Gallery Cayenne features fine art with the spice of New Orleans by internationally renowned artist Shakor. His mix of contemporary and classical painting technique exhibits diversity and intense imagery. He inspires the imagination and feeds the human spirit. Shakor adds color to life.
Shakor was born B. Cameron White in Brooklyn New York. His chosen name SHAKOR means "Black Son of the Right Hand" symbolizing his spiritual and cultural awareness
At age 4, Shakor's talent was discovered by his mother as he mimicked his elder brother Darvin drawing figures from a comic book. Shakor, A native of New York, strongly influenced by the many prestigious museums such as the Metropolitan Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim, The Museum of Natural History and the Brooklyn Museum.

Shakor attended the High School of Art and Design where he solidified a firm foundation in professional art techniques and commercial design. This training earned him full college scholarships from Boston University, Rhode Island School of Design, and his alma mater The Cooper Union. At age 19 while attending the The Cooper Union, Shakor began his professional career as a graphic design artist and cartoonist with The Big Apple After Five weekly newspaper. In 1984 Shakor relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a position as graphic design artist and cartoonist with the Los Angeles Sentential Newspaper, where he was ultimately promoted to production manager.
By 1990 Shakor relocated once more- to New Orleans. By this time Shakor's artistic abilities provided a diverse range of painting techniques. He is a sculptor, graphic artist, muralist and home décor stylist, exhibiting mastery and extensive knowledge of his craft. These extensive skills allow Shakor to paint Photo-realistic portraits, abstract impressionism and cubism. This ability is rare and separates him from the average class of artists and sets Shakor in the category of possessing the skills comparable to the greatest artists of all time!
Shakor is operator and owner of his gallery, Gallery Cayenne. The gallery is located in the center of the historic French Quarter of New Orleans across from Jackson Square and the world famous St. Louis Cathedral. This prime location allowed his art to be collected from people visiting from abroad as well as home.
Shakor's objective is to create high quality fine art and to provide customers with original paintings that appreciate in value for investors. He also offers affordable archival Giclees, which also increase in value. The Artists prime directive is to visually stimulate and share his gift with the world.
